Garvalicious FTU tut

This tutorial was written by me, using GIMP 2.6, and assumes working knowledge of the program.
Any similarities to any other tutorial are strictly coincidental.

Supplies:

Scrapkit: I used "Stalker" from Scrappin Krazy Designs.
This is part of an FTU collab, and you can get it here.

Template: I used template 147 from BeckyP's Creations, here.

Tube: I used the art of Keith Garvey. This artists work is only available with a license.
You can get it here.

Font: I used one called "Over the Rainbow".

Open new canvas 650x650 pixels. Open template. Delete copyright layer, and all shadow layers (they are the gray ones in your layers box)

Make all layers except for "white bg" and "black bg" invisible.

Fuzzy select "black bg" and open p03 from the kit. Scale to 650x650 pixels. Select->invert, delete. Select none. Delete "black bg". Rename p03 "Layer 1"

Make "pink bg" visible, and fuzzy select inside it. Open p11 from the kit. Scale to 650x650 pixels. Select ->invert, delete. Select none. Delete "pink bg". Rename p11 "Layer 2"

Make "left rectangle fill" visible. Bucket fill with color to match the kit (I used #f34120). Add HSV noise (I used settings of 8, 105, 255, 84). Rename layer "Layer 3".

Make "left rectangle bg" visible. Bucket fill with contrasting color. Rename this layer "Layer 4".

Make "left rectangle" visible. Bucket fill with a second color similar to what you used for layer 3. Add texture if desired. Rename this layer "Layer 5".

Make "right rectangle fill" visible. Repeat the same steps you used on layer 3, using the same color. Rename this "Layer 6".

Make "right rectangle bg" visible. Repeat the same steps you used on layer 4, again using the same color. Name this "Layer 7".

Make "right rectangle" visible. Repeat what you did on layer 5. Name this "Layer 8".

Make "square fill" visible and fuzzy select inside. Open p05 from the kit. Scale to 325x325 pixels. Position over "square fill" Select->invert, delete. Select none.
Delete "square fill" and rename p05 "Layer 9".

Make "square bg" visible and bucket fill with the same color you used for layer 8.
Rename "Layer 10".

Make "square" visible, and bucket fill with the color you used for layer 7.
Add texture if desired, and rename "Layer 11".

Make "circle fill" visible. Fuzzy select inside. Open p08 from the kit. Scale to 325x325 pixels, and center over "circle fill". Select->invert, delete. Select none.
Delete "circle fill" and rename "Layer 12".

Make "circle bg" visible, and bucket fill with the color you used for layer 10. Rename "Layer 13".

Make "circle" visible, and bucket fill with the color you used for layer 11.
Add texture. Rename "Layer 14".

Open tube. The one I used has 3 layers, a full size, a closeup, and an "in between".
We will call these "tube", "closeup", and "tube2", respectively.

Position tube in between the square set and the circle set, on top of layer 14.

Position tube 2 so that the face is centered over the circle set. Drop this layer to just above layer 12.
Crop to fit inside layer 13. Set layer mode to Grain Merge.

Position closeup so that it is centered over the square set. Drop this layer to just above layer 9.
Crop to fit inside layer 10. Set layer mode to Hard light.

Now, make "Garv bg" visible. Bucket fill with the color you used on layer 13. Rename "Layer 15".

Make "Garv trim" visible and bucket fill with the color you used on layer 14.
Rename this layer "Layer 16".

Make "Garv" visible and bucket fill with the color you used for layer 3. Add HSV noise.
Rename this "Layer 17".

Now, go back and add drop shadows to your layers and to your tube.
I used settings of 2, 2, 6, 75 for most of mine.

Delete all invisible layers. Add elements from the kit.

When you're done adding elements, merge visible layers.

Autocrop image. Scale to desired dimensions.

Add name and copyright info.
